2018/2019 SEASON
How do you measure?
The Highlander Theatre Company's inaugural season features four productions that celebrate the creativity, spirit, and diversity of the Somerville High School community.

This year's season examines the ways we come together to overcome struggle, honor our histories, and break barriers while measuring our lives in love.

In Jonathan Larson's award-winning rock-musical Rent, a group of friends learn to live for every moment during the HIV/AIDS crisis of the 90s. In Quiara Alegria Hudes's Holy Broth, Puerto-Rican teenager Ashley creates a new language with her Abuela with the help of an old family soup recipe. Lauren Gunderson's Silent Sky follows the true story of early 20th-century astronomy pioneer Henrietta Leavitt, who forever changed the way we measure the heavens despite the restrictions placed on her for being a woman. The season caps off with the Highlander Fringe Festival, a celebration of new work by Somerville High School students.
